Here you'll find some information about the Volunteers at Laces Boxing Club:
I'm the owner and founder of Laces Boxing Club and I'm passionate about providing a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for people of all ages. I hold England Boxing coaching qualifications alongside my extensive experience coaching and working with children. I've been patiently building a team of volunteers and boxers and I'm excited to now focus on promoting the good work we do down at Laces Boxing Club.
Favourite Boxer: Rocky Marciano
Best part of training: I don't get time to train but I love seeing the lads work hard.
Worst part of training: No comment
Favourite food: Too many to mention
Interesting fact: I have four wonderful children aged 14, 12, 6, 19 months and maybe
more to come.
From the first time I walked into the gym I knew it was a project I wanted to be part of, everyone is welcoming and there's a great atmosphere. I'm from a martial arts background and it's fair to say I'm a fitness fanatic. I'm grateful to be a volunteer and can't wait to see the juniors embrace the sport whether they decide to box competitvely or not.
Favourite Boxer: GGG
Best part of training: Being challenged and pushed to my limits
Worst part of training: Aching the next day but at least I know I've worked hard.
Favourite food: Lasagne
Interesting fact: I can play at least 6 instruments to a high level but not all at once.
I love every part of this club, there's a great atmosphere and all skills levels and ages are made welcome. I enjoy seeing the juniors progress and when I hang up my gloves I will be giving more of my time to help younger boxers fulfil their potential.
I wish I had more time to help the gym that has given me so much but I'm thrilled to be maintaining my coaching badge and will be helping cornering the juniors when I'm needed.
Favourite Boxer: Mike Tyson
Best part of training: Sparring
Worst part of training: Burpees
Favourite food: Pizza
Interesting fact: Not like you haven't noticed but I bear
a striking resemblance to a polar bear. I think this is why Jono calls me Joelar but you never can be sure.
Alz has joined our team to help with the Strength and Conditioning of our boxers. Alan is a qualified Level 2/3 Personal Trainer and one of his specialist subjects is nutrition. He is using the gym space to run some of his own classes and is available for personal training.
